There’s something so calming about being at the beach. The waves, the smell, the breeze, and the sand; a magical place which leaves our mind and body relaxed, and very clear. What a wonderful feeling. You can thank the sea water for this!
Sodium Chloride (sea salt), which is made from evaporating sea water, contains an abundance of minerals and trace elements, which are required by all living organisms. All of the minerals found in sea salt have different functions in our bodies for different systems. Compared to commercial table salt, sea salt is crucial for our health.
The problem? Our modern world!
Processed and malnourished diets. Pollutants. Stress. Our fast pacing jobs. Less sleep. Technology.
At the end of this vicious cycle, our bodies are left in inflammation, and unfortunately some of us suffer more than others; with reoccurring problems such as colds/flu, skin conditions, asthma, allergies and many more. If you suffer from any of these conditions, you may feel like no matter what you do, the condition will always return back, or be permanent like me, as I have suffered from asthma since I was a child, and in more recent years, Hay Fever.
Salt Therapy can help ease our symptoms and inflammation in our bodies.
What is Salt Therapy?
According to www.saltsoftheearth.com.au, “When a client sits in one of our three salt rooms (salt caves), a halogenerator grinds up pharmaceutical grade salt into minute particles that become airborne when dispersed into the room. The dry salt aerosol particles are then inhaled deep into the client’s lungs to relieve inflammation and loosen congestion to allow easier and improved breathing. The salt particles also help to open up the airways, increase oxygen intake and cleanse the airways of smoke, dust, pollutants and other allergens. When the salt lands on the skin it also helps to relieve sore, flakey, red and irritated skin”.
What Conditions Can Salt Therapy Help?
- Hay Fever
- Cold and Flu
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Pneumonia, Emphysema and COPD
- Cold and Flu related sleeplessness
- Seasonal skin reactions and allergies
Salt Therapy is also a great recovery booster for sports/exercise post muscle soreness, as well as a great therapy for general wellbeing and detoxification.
Thankfully for me, I have a Salts Of The Earth Clinic near my hometown, in Newtown, and my experience was wonderful. Beautiful interior, Himalayan salt lamps everywhere and lovely staff. Upon entering the salt cave, the staff make sure you have adequate hygiene, by providing a hair net and slippers. You are welcome to bring in headphones, book and magazines, but I wanted to close my eyes, meditate and breathe. You get to sit back on a recliner, which has a massage functioning remote. The room is dark, but there are salt lamps everywhere; which give the room a beautiful warm light. Your senses are welcomed with relaxing music, the sound of water from a fish tank and the clear, salty air. I did not want the session to end.
The next 24 hours afterwards, my body was getting rid of the phlegm and mucous from my nose, which is a common occurrence after salt therapy; it’s our bodies way of fighting off bacteria and infections. I also had a great sleep which topped it all off. I love seeing more and more natural therapy clinics in Australia, and one day I hope that people try these alternative therapies, rather than just going to the doctors. Salt Caves are a great addition that we need in our modern world, providing us with vitamin sea; the ultimate natural therapy that your body may just need, inside and out.
Stay tuned, as I will be doing a give-away which includes beautiful pamper gifts and a complimentary pass for one salt therapy session in the Newtown clinic. →Follow my Facebook page for updates←
